Visit the fishing charter docks at Schooner Wharf, Turtle Kraals, and Conch Republic. Take a day trip to the Dry Tortugas for spectacular fishing and diving. Don't forget to go to the historic houses of Hemingway and the Wrecker's Museum, located on Duval Street. A taste of the second oldest city in the US. Also don't forget to treat yourself to a waterfront Key West hotel. You only live once Key Westis my favorite key. Some people say that it's too touristy, but I like it anyway. It reminds me of a mini-Manhattan. Everything is here (maybe in miniature) that you might need & if it's not here, you don't really need it. Many people never go off the island except for an adventure trip to Stock Island (nearby island & home to a Naval installation). It has been said that there are so many restaurants here that you could go to a different one every day of the year and not get to them all. The Island has a theatre group, musical society, artists of every media, sights, sounds, smells, cuisines of many different cultures all packed into this tiny island of 5 square miles. For many people the Keys is Key West. Walk Duval street & in about 5 blocks you will hear at least 5 different kinds of music from 5 different sidewalk bars & restaurants. Key West Florida hotel & accommodations are 5 star for every price range.
